The City of Saitama

Saitama is a center, residential, and business city

Saitama city is the capital and the most populous city of Saitama Prefecture in Japan, situated in the southeast of the prefecture. Being in the Greater Tokyo Area and lying 15 – 30 kilometers north of central Tokyo, a big proportion of its population of over a million commutes to Tokyo for work. This contributes largely to Omiya Station being a major train hub in the area. The city was newly formed in 2001 with the merger of some municipalities. As of 1 July 2016, the city had an estimated population of 1,277,816 and 566,948 households. It is the 9th largest city in Japan.

SAITAMA CITY NEEDS MORE THRIVING CHURCHES.

Saitama prefecture is ranked as forty-fifth out of forty seven administrative units, which is 3.94 churches for 100,000 people. According to the research of The Global Research Team of One Challenge, 0.33% of Saitama prefecture’s population are church members, yet only 0.23% of Saitama prefecture’s population are church attenders. What we must build is a church for people to connect, share life and form communities that are deeply rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Story

We love Japan. We love Saitama. This mutual love triggered a small group of people to begin praying about planting a new Jesus-loving, Bible-believing, Gospel-centered church in the heart of Saitama city. We are gathering a launch community at this moment. God is going before us in supernatural ways. The team is committed and developing our vision, mission and values together. Our prayer is that God would use BridgeCity Church to sink the roots of the good news of Jesus Christ deep into the heart of this great city.

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

Romans 10:14-15 NASB
